Q.E.P. 7″ Bench Top Tile Saw Review
I took a trip to Lowe’s in my quest to determine what the best tile saw is. The first wet saw I took a look at was the Q.E.P. 7″ Bench Top Tile Saw with Laser Guide and 1 HP Motor. Just in case you need it, here are the details: item #214391 and model # 60083. Online the price is $206.00 but at my local Lowe’s, it was only $198. Not a huge deal but still an $8 difference and probably worth a trip to the store when you consider shipping.

Some of the relevant information is this is a 1 horse power wet saw with a 6.25 Amperage, and 3,300 RPM. It’s top feature is the laser guide – standard for premium machines – for precision cuts that you want in a tile cutter. The blade size is 7 inches and it’s maximum tile cut size rip and diagonal tile cut are both 40 inches. Here is a photo I took of the Q.E.P. I took on location:

7 inch blade
The tile saw is set on a cast aluminum cutting table and comes with 7 In. continuous rim, diamond blade, locking aluminum rip and adjustable angle guide. You can also make miter cuts because the table tilts. There is also a water run off collection system which helps prevent mess and muck
As far as specs, the bench saw neither comes with a water pump nor stand. It will cut ceramic tile, porcelain tile, and natural stone which is indicative of a solid saw with good cutting power. On safety listings, it checks out under UL and CSA, but not the ETL safety listing. The total weight is 38.68 lbs so not light but not extremely heavy.
Unfortunately, this model attached to the top of a higher platform which didn’t really give me access to touching the QEP and getting a better feel for it. I felt the price was slightly high given the features of this model compared to other tile saws. This was the highest grade Lowe’s had. I stopped by Home Depot during my research but never made it to the Tile Saw section.

The wet saws are not located with the table saws or miter saws at the front of the store. You need to go to the back by the flooring section and you’ll find them by the pieces of laminate and ceramic tile. At Home Depot, I did manage to find a Husky brand near the gardening and lighting section. I’ll try to review this and get to some others in more blog posts I’m about to post.
